Solitary Bone Cyst of the Distal Femur Shaft



Abstract
A case of solitary bone cyst encountered in the distal end of right femur shaft is reported.
This case, 11 years old boy, complained of pain and swelling on the right lower thigh after trauma. Roentgenological study revealed a large cystic lesion involving the end of the right femur shaft
with egg-shell like thin cortical expansion and a pathologic fracture.
The case was treated with radical curettage and autogenous bone chips which were taken from the iliac wing.
Pathological examination grossly and microscopically revealed a solitary bone cyst.
Patient made an uneventful recovery, and 6 months later he had no complaints and no evidence of recurrence.
